When I think about being a Permanent Deacon, a job comes to mind. A Waiter! He is preparing the Lord's Table, working hard to make sure everything is just right. His mission is to take care of the guests by helping them go through the menu and make just the right choices. How can I help you today!!

Scenes from my first Christmas
Yes, this is my First Christmas.....as a Deacon of course. Fr. Andrew reminded me and the entire congregation of that, along with the story of St Francis' first Christmas as a Deacon. I won't go down in history like he did, but it surely was special to me. The pictures of the Church were taken before Midnight Mass. I was a little anxious to be there and arrived second in the Church. The attendance was up at every Mass.

Ultreya tonight
Tonight we have our monthly Ultreya, and this will be the first time I get to lead the gathering. Am I nervous, yes a bit, but I got schooled this week. For several weeks now, I have reminded an employee that he needs to bring his golf course aggreiveness to the work place. A few days ago we had a discussion on ministry, and he suggested that I bring my workplace confidence, and leadership to my ministry. Hmmmm...the teacher got schooled! Well, tonight it starts. Time to sing a new song....cya tonight!

I wonder if this is a record?
This past weekend Fr. Andrew was very busy. Almost too busy. I had to rebook a Baptism because he already had his hands full. On Sunday after Mass he not one, not two, but three Baptisms all from the same family. To top it off, he blessed a Marriage. Here are some pictures for you to check out.

Be Patient
Be patient, my brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer awaits the precious yield of the soil. He looks forward to it patiently while the soil receives the winter and the spring rains. You, too, must be patient. Steady your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is at hand. See! The judge stands at the gate. James 5:7-8,9b

Tonight I had a flashback
Take a look at this picture. Now stare at it for two hours during a lecture. Two years ago our group in Plymouth did just that. This picture popped up on Facebook and yes, the flashback came rushing forth. I'm not so sure I want to see a Baroque Church again.
Peace
Deacon Mitch
