Scenes from my first Christmas

Yes, this is my First Christmas.....as a Deacon of course. Fr. Andrew reminded me and the entire congregation of that, along with the story ...

The four musketeers

This summer we were blessed to have a great team of ministers, assisted ably by the lowly deacon. On the left you have our Pastor Fr Kyle, next Fr Andrew, Seminarian Mike, & Seminarian Brandon. They have all been a joy, yet sadly we say goodbye to Mike and Brandon who will be returning back to school. Please pray for them and all our Seminarians who are discerning their vocation.

A very busy Saturday

This was one of the busiest days I've had so far. First on the agenda was leading the parish in Eucharistic Adoration. It was a great experience and an honor to do so. I was nervous and well, as in everything new, I am a work in progress. Next on the agenda was serving as Deacon for our Bishop. I was a little nervous, but with good training and practice I was confident and felt it went very well. Shortly after Mass we needed to rush to Gorham for the six pm Mass. I traveled with Mike, which gave me some one on one time with him. The busy night didn't end, Terry and I spent some quality time with our best friends. It was a spectacular day! God is good!

The Feast of St Anne

Today our parish will celebrate with our Bishop the Feast of St Anne. It won't be a huge gathering as in the past, but it will surely stir many emotions in the faithful. I am honored to be chosen to lead the Holy Hour. I will be flanked by our two Seminarians Mike, and Brandon. This will be their last weekend here and they have been pure joy for all of us. No matter where Christ leads them, we are blessed that they spent time with all of us at Good Sheperd & Holy Family parishes.

Good St Anne pray for us!

      Thank you Mike Sartori

     Thank you Brandon!

A day of great joy!

Yesterday I was honored to do my first Baptism. Before, and during Mass I was a little distracted looking for the parents and the children. The moment came and Fr. said "this is your second right?" "No Fr. this is my first!" He then asked..."are you redy?"  "Yes!" I was doubly blessed to do two on my first time. I was a little nervous, yet Terry reassured me that it went very well! Praise God for our two newest members of our community Ethan & Guy!

Vacation plans for 2015

With our wonderful week behind us Terry and I have already discussed what we would love to do next year! Visit Quebec again and especially Pointe Levy. This is the town where my ancestor settled and became a lay missionary Jesuit, working with Issac Jogues. I am touched that over 350 years later one of his ancestors would continue to answer Christ's call. They actually have a monument in his honor. Here are some pictures of Guillaume Cousture (Couture), yes there was an s that disappeared from our last name.

Here is the Church in France where his faith was celebrated!

The end of a special time that will never be forgotten!

On Sunday the final mass will be said at Our Lady Of Grace Colebrook New Hampshire. For many years on our travels to visit family in Canada, we wouldpass bythis beautiful shrine and often times stop to pray and light a candle. I even remember attending Mass several times there. It will be hard not to look at it longingly again, the times are changing. Even though the physical reminders may go away the presence of our Blessed Mother will always be felt!

I have included a photo that stirs my heart!

Peace,

Deacon Mitch

So funny I had to share!

The missed message!

Yesterday, Terry needed the cell phone to coordinate the pickup of our granddaughter. This morning I checked the message that I missed. Fr Kyle called and mentioned that he and Fr Andrew would be wearing shorts and clerics, and I could also. He said something inspiring..." We want to show that we are proud, we are Catholic, and we love to have fun!" We'll, even though I missed the message the statement he made truly applied.

A picnic and so much more!

Yesterday was very special for the Couture family. Not only was it great to be with the two parishes we had Myanna with us for an overnight stay. We are having such a great time together. Yes we are taking a ton of pictures and Terry is posting them on Facebook. It's great being a grandparent!
