Today is the day....a new beginning

Yesterday I was supposed to be at morning Mass to pray one last time and also receive a blessing and a send off from the parish. A commitment at work kept me from being there. At around quarter of nine I noticed a parishioner in front of my store and then another and others. I began to believe that Fr Andrew was up to something. With a band of about 20 faithful they all came to my work to publicly offer their prayers and blessing. This moment really touched my heart. It truly was a great send off. Last night we all gathered at the Cathedral for our final rehearsal. The best way to describe it is a calm joy  was within us. We also received our assignments. As for me I will be staying home and adding another parish to tend to with our wonderful parish team of Fr Kyle and Fr Andrew. I spoke to Fr Andrew last night and he shared some of his wisdom on how to prepare for the big moment. I then texted greetings to my new boss and he welcomed me to his team.

Today is a new beginning!

It was the night before

I know it's a corny start but it's the beginning of a very wonderful and blessed day. So many emotions, so much energy is flowing inside of me , I cannot comprehend all the wonderful things that are happening, it is just incredible. Terry and I will be leaving soon to be with friends, one more time to relax, one more time to get ready, Amen!

Moving closer to that blessed day!

With so much going on in my life I am trying to savor the moments and quietly listen to my heart. We recently completed our final retreat and it was a great experience. We had a great retreat master, we were all together again, we shared wonderful moments of joy, and we received a couple of treats. On Saturday evening the staff baked us a cake and on top of the cake was written "Axios" meaning "he is worthy". We were told that in the Greek Church that is the phrase that is used when a Bishop, Priest, or Deacon is ordained. It was a touching moment and to top it off, the cake was very good. We also had our pictures taken. The men each individually, another with our wives, and a group picture for all of us. 

Mike and I shared another new tradition by serving together this past weekend. I really love these moments and look forward to the very near future.

I'm wrapping up details for the big day. I'm working on my homilette for the 25th, and the homily for June 1st. I'm watching the hockey series with my beloved Bruins, and tonight is the final big game of that series. Go BRUINS!!!!! 

This weekend we will be meeting again with the Johnson's for final preps for the June 1st event, next week is training for serving at the altar, and other church events.

It's busy at work, at home, and with the parish. I guess this is what life will be! Something I know I'm looking forward to!

And the journey continues....

The past few weeks I've been focused on many different things. Family, Faith, preparation, etc. Just the normal things we all do.

Mike Johnson and I have shared so much on our journey together towards ordination, and we haven't stopped. We served a Mass together a couple of weekends back, and he invited me to a healing Mass going on with the parish he is assigned to. They were both great experiences and it highlights what we are and who we are in the North Country. 

We as a people have learned that we must depend on each other, support each other. In other words we are family. Boundaries can't define us, nor should they. Whenever there is a need I know we can always reach out. 

This weekend will be our final retreat prior to ordination. 

I can't thank you enough for your prayers and support.

Please continue to pray for all of us and our families as we prepare for our ministry to God's children.
